Jerry Michael “Mike” McGuire, of Nederland, passed away May 25, 2024. He was born October 23, 1956, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Jerry Davis McGuire and Helen Marie Stark. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Anyone who knew him knew that he was a Marine through and through. He was the definition of once a Marine always a Marine. He was tough on all of us, but we knew he loved us unconditionally and had a heart of gold. He was a retired member of the IBEW Local Union 479. Cheryl was born on November 13, 1946, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas, to her parents, James “Jimmy” and Mary Ann Rose, and was raised in Nederland, Texas alongside her little sister, Lisa. Cheryl was a proud graduate of the Nederland High School class of 1965, where she was an active member of the marching band and National Honor Society. It was her senior year of high school where Cheryl met George Junot, with whom she would fall in love and eventually marry in 1967. Patrick “Pat” Jay Dillon, 66, of Beaumont, died Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born October 31, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas, to Lucille Norris Roy and Billy Eugene Dillon. Pat was a truck driver and drove cross country for over 20 years and retired in 2004. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle and visits with his grandchildren. Survivors include his former spouse, Susan Dillon; daughter, Stephanie Shearin; daughter-in-law, Shaina Dillon; and grandchildren, Caden, Chase, Camryn, Sophi, Cooper, Izabella, and Ellie. She was very giving and loved to take care of her family. She was an avid bowler in her younger years. Harry Lee “Bill” Wiltz went home to the Lord on May 10, 2024. He passed at home while holding hands with his loved ones. Bill was born on June 7, 1926, in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Bellizaire and Theresa Lee Wiltz. Bill was a hard worker that loved life, his family, and his God. During his senior year at Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Bill was drafted into the Navy during WWII. He served on a carrier in the Philippines. During this time, he took Red Cross donated sweaters that the servicemen did not want and made pillow covers with the word “mom” or “sis on them. He would sell them to the men for them to send home. O’Neal, the patriarch of the Wilson family, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2024, at the age of 96. Tootsie said it best, as she described him as a good man, a good husband, a good daddy, a good pawpaw, and a good Christian. And he was in fact all of those things. O’Neal was born on September 3, 1927, in Shelby County, Texas and went to several schools as a boy, before graduating from Center in 1944. He enlisted and served in the Army Air Corp and was later drafted back into the Air Force during the Korean War. All in all, he served 5 years, 5 months, and 5 days. She worked at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was later Head Teller at Sabine State Bank. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Alice Meeks, and her husband of thirty-two years, Fred Dekeyzer. Twalla Earlene Gentry, 85, of Beaumont, died April 2, 2024. She was born August 29, 1938, in Beaumont, to Joan Odom LeBlanc and William “Bill” LeBlanc. Twalla was the last living Charter Member of LaBelle Baptist Church. LaBelle Baptist Church was started in her family’s front yard in a tent. It was later moved to Highway 365 where services were still performed in the tent, while chickens were running around squawking. Her dad built the first little white church in the 1950’s, which was later torn down. He then built the red brick church in 1962. This little church made it for many years but had to be torn down again for the present building. Twalla was proud of her church and continued servicing her church and the community. Walter Pierre Boullion, 81, of Groves, died Sunday, March 31, 2024. He was born March 20, 1943, in Kaplan, Louisiana, to Edith and Otto Boullion. Mr. Boullion retired from St. Catherine’s School where he served as the custodian. After he retired, he started his own business, Walter’s Lawn Service. In his business, he was able to do what he loved most- being outside and serving his community and others. He was a humble man of God. His joys in life were gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and serving in the Knights of Columbus-especially during lent when he would help with the annual fish fry. Alma Lee Rollins Kirby, 89, of Nederland, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with her loving family and church friends by her side. Alma was a firm believer in God and was comforted by her strong faith and the love of her family and friends. Alma was born on September 25, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas to Milton and Mary Rollins. She was a member of Triangle Baptist Church in Nederland where she played the piano and handbells and also donated her time to the church by helping with Vacation Bible School and with the flowerbed. Alma graduated from South Park High School and Lamar Tech. She met her husband, Donald W. Kirby at Pure Oil where she was a plant secretary. She left the workforce to raise her family. Pamela Murphy, aged 72, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 2, 1951, in Nederland, Texas to Cooper Edison Burroughs and Dollie Ray Foster. Pamela B. Murphy was survived by her mother, Dollie Foster and her twin sister, Priscilla Burroughs. By her children, Daniel Murphy III, and Kate Murphy [Gregory Studelska]. And by her granddaughter, Maeve Murphy Studelska. She was loved dearly. Pam trusted in the Lord Jesus and was not afraid. Martin Eddie LaFleur, 77, of Groves, died Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born February 28, 1947, in Port Arthur, to Ollie Marie Vaughn Prince and Whitney “Pop” Prince. Survivors include his wife, Brenda LaFleur; brother, Robert LaFleur and wife, Suzanne; sister, Marie Babin; daughters, Anita Rogers and husband, Kevin; Kellie Powell and husband, Greg; and Glenda Davalos and husband, Stewart; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. LaFleur’s cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

Jane Allene Harvill Brackin, 97, of Nederland, made her journey home peacefully on March 24, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born April 29, 1926, in Nederland, to Lola Ota Defee Harvill and Louis Marion Harvill. She was a lifelong and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Nederland, Texas. Jane was a member of the Silvertone Choir who performed for their church and community. She belonged to a Bible Study group of women where she served as President, Vice President, and Secretary. Jane began volunteering as a ‘Pink Lady’ for Mid Jefferson Hospital and continued as an Auxiliary Volunteer for the Southeast Texas Medical Center where she was honored as Auxiliarist of the Year.
